February 5, 2007 CHICAGO , IL – Anacostia & Pacific Company, Inc. announced today that it has agreed to purchase computer equipment from Railcar Management, Inc. to be installed in 34 locomotives on it's affiliate railroads, including the Louisville & Indiana Railroad, the New York & Atlantic Railway, the Chicago, SouthShore & South Bend Railroad, and the Pacific Harbor Line. The equipment is Railcar Management's mCrew, which allows train personnel to interface with mainframe systems over a wireless connection. “This is one of several initiatives in place to automate processes and provide improved and timelier information to our customers” says Jack Spiese, Director of MIS at Anacostia Rail Holdings, Inc. “Our train crews will be able to represent, in our systems, what they are doing on the ground, in near real-time. For instance, when our train personnel set a car out in a nearby yard, the customer, using a web interface, will know that the car is available almost immediately.” The equipment will be delivered and installed during the second quarter of 2007.
