The Louisville - Indiana Railroad has several industrial development sites at various locations on its line between Indianapolis, IN and Louisville, KY. Site locations range from rural to small- and mid-sized communities to the metropolitan areas of Indianapolis and Louisville. Included in available sites are several parcels located at the state-run Clarke Maritime Center in Jeffersonville, IN on the Ohio River.

Centrally located in south-central Indiana, the L&I rail corridor is very diverse. The access to the interstate system is excellent from every development site on L&I.

Sites currently being developed include:

Franklin, IN - Located just twenty miles from downtown Indianapolis, Franklin has several rail sites available. Commercial development in the area includes auto parts manufacturing, distribution of manufacturing products and lumber as well as plastic extruding. L&I has worked closely with Johnson County Development Corporation to locate new business to the area.

Edinburgh, IN - Situated in southern Johnson County, IN near Camp Atterbury military training base, Edinburgh has several large commercial sites available suitable for large manufacturing facilities. While predominantly an agricultural area, Edinburgh is also known for its quality hardwood veneer manufacturing. Columbus, IN - Noted as the architectural capital of Indiana, Columbus is the home of Fortune 500 company Cummins. Development is currently expanding on both the north and south sides of Columbus. Industrial development activities are coordinated with the railroad by the Columbus Area Economic Development Board (812) 378-7310.

Seymour/Crothersville, IN - Primarily an agricultural area, the Seymour/Crothersville area has recruited several manufacturing facilities to Jackson County in the past two years. Recent additions to the area include Lexmark, Cerro Wire and Onkyo. Several excellent development sites are currently available adjacent to the railroad. Plans are currently in process for development of a new south-side industrial park adjacent to the Freeman Field Industrial Park. Scottsburg, IN - Situated just 25 miles from the Louisville metro area, Scottsburg industrial development activities have attracted several new businesses to the area and generated the expansion of several more. Recent additions to the Scottsburg area include GenPak and Austin Tri-Hawk, while Holm Industries has recently undergone a major expansion. Jeffersonville, IN - Located on the north bank of the Ohio River adjacent to Louiville, KY, Clarke Maritime Center, or Port of Jeffersonville, is a state of Indiana-operated facility with excellent transportation accommodations. Access to the Ohio River is available and rail infrastructure is already in place and operational. The Port is also easily accessed by truck from I-64, I-65 and I-71. The Port of Jeffersonville specializes in steel processing and is centrally located to several truck and auto assembly plants and other high-volume end users.
