Three Anacostia affiliates win ASLRRA Jake Awards for safety – 2018

Three Anacostia Rail Holdings affiliates were awarded Jake Awards by the American Short Line and Regional Railroad Association (ASLRRA).

The Northern Lines Railway, LLC (NLR) won the “Jake with Distinction Award” for achieving injury free performance in year 2018. NLR President, Justin Chalich proudly stated that “This is the sixth year in a row we have won this prestigious award. The credit goes to the high level of safety performance the NLR employees achieve each day they come to work”.

Two ARH Affiliates won the “Jake Award” for achieving an FRA reportable injury rate that was less than or equal to the industry average, but had at least one FRA reportable injury.

The New York & Atlantic Railway Company (NYA) had just one injury in year 2018. NYA President, James Bonner expressed great pride in the performance of the NYA workforce and said, “This award recognizes the commitment of every NYA employee to work safely and injury free throughout the year. I am very proud of each and every NYA team member”.

The Chicago South Shore & South Bend Railroad Company (CSS) also won a “Jake Award”. CSS President, Todd Bjornstad stated, “CSS has a tradition of safety excellence and this is the fifth year in a row we have won the “Jake Award” or “Jake with Distinction Award”. Our proud and safety conscious employees earned this award by always putting safety first in the performance of their duties.”
