GCS – Gulf Coast Switching
Gulf Coast Switching (GCS) was formed in 2008 to operate the Robinson SIT Yard in Dayton, Texas for Union Pacific. We operate the storage side of the yard that encompasses 1500 cars of storage for plastic hoppers. GCS does the track maintenance for all of Robinson Yard, which entails 36 miles of CWR track and 86 switches. In 2018, we started the Angleton SIT Yard for Union Pacific. It is a 1100 car facility and has 24 miles of CWR track and 42 switches, of which we maintain. Both locations utilize remote control locomotives to enable us to have a safer more efficient operation.
